Concrete Sewing

Local production

In the project Concrete Sewing I use concrete mixed with plastic fiber and pour it into molds sewn from nylon fabric. By doing this I obtain curved lines and organic forms. The texture of the material also evokes interesting nuances in the concrete and makes it look particularly soft and warm.

I intertwine materials and processes of two Icelandic companies. Selgagerðin Ægir is an old enterprise that originally worked primarily on sewing sails for the fleet and BM Vallá is one of the leading companies within the Icelandic construction industry.

Large and small structures in cities and towns have a deep impact on the appearance of the environment and thereby affect the welfare of the people who lives there. Concrete is one of the world's most common building materials. Commonly it dries in flat tournaments with straight surfaces and looks square and cold
